Disappearing Shortcut Node

This is a quick service announcement for those that don’t use data shortcuts. You or your firm probably do this for one of two reasons. Either you’re standardized on Vault or you put everything in a single file. Either way, you often find that having the data shortcut node visible in Prospector is the most annoying aspect of using Civil 3D.

Well, you are in luck.

It seems every day i stumble across a system variable i did not know about. In this case, the variable is called SHORTCUTNODE and has either a value of ZERO or ONE. It has a default value of One, meaning the node is visible in Prospector. If you set it to Zero, then it disappears…

Notice that the screen shot is for the Master View in Prospector. If you switch to Active Drawing View, then you only get the current drawing. My wish is that we could toggle the Project node in this Active Drawing View. That’s probably another system variable i’m unaware of….

The End.
