How to Rid AutoCAD of Duplicate M-Color Menus

Occasionally, when people install M-Color, somehow AutoCAD, and thereby any vertical flavor of AutoCAD, wants to display two menu items for M-Color. Alright, lets go the CUI to just verify what’s going on. But when you check, there’s only one.  What now?  Patience young sensei. Let’s delve into the Registry matrix…

The best way to configure autocad is to remove automatic loading of M-Color menu with the “menuload” command in AutoCAD. After that, exit autocad and disable the automatic loading of M-Color menu with this registry setting:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Motive/M-Color/Global Settings

DWORD: MenuAutoload

Value: 1 = on, 0 = off
If you are unsure of registry editing, please refer to your IT support. Misconfigurations can lead to unstable behaviour of the whole operating system.

After this configuration, M-Color will not automatically load its menu at all. Re-launch autocad and enter the CUI to manually add the M-Color menu in the appropriate workspace!

Or, if your’re super lazy, Re-launch autocad and close. Go back into the registry editor and toggle the value of MenuAutoload back to 1. Re-launch autocad one more time and NOW, you only get one M-Color menu. Lastly, i must give credit to the fine folks at Motive Systems, makers of M-Color, for helping me resolve this issue!

We need at least one deep thought on this topic, so to quote a famous leader, albeit fictional:

Throughout human history, we have been dependent on machines to survive. Fate, it seems, is not without a sense of irony.
